The Danford College Professional Year was developed by the Australian Computer Society and approved by the Department of Home Affairs. The ACS Professional Year (PY) program aims to provide a quality workplace related experience to enhance career and employability skills. It provides relevant and practical training to facilitate the transition from university studies into the Australian workplace. It aims to develop practical skills, confidence and fresh thinking in order to increase employability for Australian career, within the IT Industry. It is a professional development program combining formal learning and Australian internship experience.
The ACS Professional Year Program is for international students who has completed an Australian Bachelor or Master Degree in IT or ICT with a minimum of two years of study within Australia.
In completion of ACS Professional Year Program graduates may claim five (5) points under an eligible skilled occupation, as specified by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.
Program Duration
The minimum program length is 44 weeks which includes 32 weeks of training and 12 weeks’ internship placement within a host organisation. As part of this program, student is also required to do a Professional Environments (PE) online course delivered by ACS and undertaken in conjunction with the participant’s internship.
